FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers for dental practices and clinics: online appointments with 4dental, the digital odontogram and treatment plans, e-prescriptions, confidentiality and GDPR, pricing, invoicing and notifications through the 4b2b ecosystem.
Appointments & practice calendar
How long does it take to start online appointments with 4dental?
A small dental practice can start in a few days: create your account, add dentists and services, set the schedule and switch on online appointments. Multi-location, multi-dentist clinics take one to two weeks, depending on the data and the integrations you want.
Can patients book online by themselves?
Yes. The patient picks a dentist, a dental service and a free slot, then confirms the appointment online, without a phone call. The per-chair/dentist calendar updates in real time, and the front desk sees the whole practice schedule in one place.
Can I manage several dentists and several chairs or locations?
Yes. The platform supports separate calendars per dentist, chair/room and location, each with its own availability rules. It fits both a single practice and a dental clinic with several sites.
How do I cut no-shows?
With automatic recall reminders. The patient gets a confirmation and a reminder by SMS, WhatsApp or email before the visit or the periodic check-up, and can confirm or reschedule in one click. That lowers no-shows and keeps the calendar predictable.
Does the platform work well on mobile?
Yes. The patient booking page and the front-desk and dentist panels are natively responsive and fast on mobile — where most online bookings happen.
Odontogram, dental patient records & prescriptions
What does a dental patient record (electronic chart) contain?
A dental patient record gathers contact details, visit history, the odontogram, the treatment plan, recommendations and attached documents (including X-rays) in one place. The dentist opens the electronic chart in one click, straight from the appointment.
What is the odontogram and how does the treatment plan work?
The odontogram is the patient's tooth-by-tooth dental chart, where the dentist marks completed and planned treatments. The treatment plan is built from the odontogram, with stages, costs and linked appointments — all attached to the patient record.
Can I issue e-prescriptions from the platform?
Yes. E-prescriptions are filled in directly in the patient record, based on the medical history and the treatment plan, and stay attached to the visit. You get a complete prescription history for every patient.
How do you protect patients’ medical data (GDPR)?
Health data is a special category of personal data. We protect it with encryption, role-based access (front desk, dentist, administrator) and an audit log, in line with GDPR and Romanian medical regulations.
Does the data stay with the practice?
Yes. Patient data belongs to the dental practice. You can export it any time, and we act as a data processor with the security measures required by GDPR.
Billing, insurance, notifications & integrations
Can I invoice consultations and treatments directly from the practice?
Yes, through the 4b2b ecosystem. Consultations and treatment-plan stages can generate invoices in 4invoices, with patient details and the service performed pulled automatically from the appointment. No double entry.
How do I handle insurance settlements for patients?
Each treatment in a patient plan can be marked as fully covered, partially covered or paid directly, and the invoice reflects that split automatically — useful for patients with private dental insurance or corporate plans.
Which notification channels can I use for patients?
We integrate notifications through 4notify: SMS, WhatsApp and email for appointment confirmations, recall reminders and post-treatment follow-up messages. Patients are notified on time, with minimal effort from the front desk.
How much does 4dental cost?
Pricing depends on the plan and the size of the practice (number of dentists and chairs). See the full grid on the pricing page; all plans include online appointments, dental patient records and baseline optimizations, with no fee per consultation.
Is the platform secure and does it back up automatically?
Yes. The infrastructure includes HTTPS, patient-data encryption, baseline attack protection and automatic backups, so medical information — including attached X-rays — is protected and recoverable.
Onboarding, migrating from paper & support
How do I get started with 4dental?
You create an account, add dentists, services and the schedule, then switch on online appointments. The team assists with the initial setup and migrating existing data. More about the process on /about-us.
Can I migrate paper records or records from another system?
Yes. We help you turn paper patient records or data from another software into electronic records with a full odontogram and treatment history, so you don’t lose treatment history when moving to 4dental.
Can I run the practice myself, without technical skills?
Yes. Everything is managed from a simple panel: you add dentists, services, time slots and reminders with no code. The front desk learns it quickly, and changes apply immediately.
Do you offer support after launch?
Yes. Plans include updates, monitoring, backups and support through the in-panel channel. For larger dental clinics we also provide dedicated help configuring calendars, flows and integrations. Contact us on /contact.
Is there a partner programme?
Yes. Partners who recommend 4dental to dental practices and clinics can join the partner programme, with recurring commissions and terms. Details on /partners.
